2026 Offseason Newsletter

Team 930 has been keeping busy in the preseason with meetings throughout the past couple of weeks. During this time, we have been training the new rookies that have joined our team and worked on introducing them to our team structure. To those who are interested in still joining, meetings are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7pm-9pm at our shop on 700 Swan Drive in Mukwonago.

Over the summer, we focused on outreach, but still competed at numerous fun offseason events. We apologize for the delayed newsletter, as the offseason has been just as hectic as the onseason.

DockHounds

At a Lake Country DockHounds game, Team 930 brought STEM to the ballpark, sharing their robot, meeting families, and showing how competitive robotics builds future engineers. This game highlighted the best of local sports, student innovation, and community pride. Plus we got to throw out the first pitch!

Badge Bash

From July 11th-12th, we were excited to host the 2026 Badge Bash event at our high school! Our team taught groups from Scouting America and The Girl Scouts of America. Over this weekend, these scouts received hands-on STEM experience in order to learn elements of programming, design, and robotics elements–earning them merit badges from Team 930. In addition, this initiative is a part of our SWE (Society of Women Engineers) Next Chapter, continuing for the 5th consecutive year!

Synthwave Showdown

Synthwave Showdown–a competition in Manitowoc, WI–brought together 17 teams for two days of high‑energy competition. The event ran identical to an on-season event. The main difference was the lights! During the event, the field featured glow-in-the-dark detailing that glowed bright under the black lights. Many teams decorated their robots with fluorescent tape and vinyl, creating a fun and unique experience. Team 930 was first pick of the second alliance, competing through to the finals!

IRI

The 2026 Indiana Robotics Invitational (IRI) is one of the most competitive off‑season events in the world, drawing 50 top‑performing teams from across the FRC community. Teams compete in a full schedule of qualification matches, alliance selection, and playoffs, with a reputation for fast‑paced, high‑scoring gameplay. At this competition, we ranked 17th overall and were the second pick of the 7th alliance with captain 1720, PhyXTGears and Team 1261, Robo Lions.

MROC

On July 25-26th, our team had the privilege of hosting the Mukwonago Robotics Offseason Competition (MROC), an event designed to give Wisconsin robotics teams the opportunity to gain valuable experience in a full regional‑style environment, as we have for the past 5 years. Preparation began on July 25th, when our team, alongside an incredible group of dedicated volunteers worked to set up the field, organize workshop spaces, and ensure that the event would run smoothly. This year, 29 teams attended MROC, each bringing their own energy, creativity, and competitive spirit. Throughout the weekend, teams not only competed on the field, but also participated in workshops to share FIRST related knowledge. Attendees had the chance to decorate rocks, make personalized buttons, and enjoy lighthearted mentor and human‑player matches that added fun and community bonding to the event. In addition to competition and learning, MROC served as a way to give back. We used the event to support Milwaukee Cross Trainers Academy through a backpack and school‑supply drive. On the field, the competition was intense and exciting, all the way to the end. The second alliance—Team 1732 Hilltoppers Robotics, Team 6574 Ferradermis, Team 6643 Walnuts and Bolts, and offseason robot 9991 from Team 2202 BEAST Robotics—won the event in a dramatic tiebreaker match. The first alliance–featuring Team 1306 Badger Bots, Team 1714 MORE Robotics, and Team 11258 Honey Badger– put up an exceptional fight and demonstrated outstanding teamwork. This year we celebrated MROC’s 5 year anniversary and look forward to making next year’s MROC even better!

NAtional Night Out

National Night Out took place on Tuesday, August 4, bringing residents together with local police, fire, EMS, and community partners. Families enjoyed hands-on activities, explored emergency vehicles, and learned practical safety and crime‑prevention tips. Alongside these booths Team 930 demoded our robot to the community in order to show what the past seasons’ game was like. The evening highlighted the strong partnerships within our community. In addition, we were especially excited to show Representative Wichgers our robot and driving controls from the 2026 FRC game.

LEGO Summer Camps

This year, Team 930’s LEGO Camp continued for the 8th year in team history! From August 10th to 15th, Team 930 students helped almost thirty 4th-8th graders learn STEM related content. This included aspects of block coding, LEGO Spike Prime assembly, and teamwork. In the advanced camp, students were instructed in even more specifics of the sensors and programming of FIRST LEGO League robots. On the last day of camp, kids had the opportunity to participate in a mock competition in hopes to engage the younger generation in STEM.

Harbor Fest

Team 930 was graciously invited to the annual Harbor Fest in Milwaukee on Sunday, September 27th. We had an amazing day of demoing robots from the past season, as well as spreading awareness of our program. We even got to see a working scale model of an electric rope shovel, which Komatsu manufactures! The experience of Harbor Fest was especially innovative, because we were able to overcome a problem we’ve never faced before—the heat of the sun melting a spacer and causing a robot malfunction. Thank you to Komatsu for the invitation, and all of our sponsors that make our successes possible!
